I paint my environment - the sounds of the city, the cadence of the traffic, the structure of the architecture and the jumble of my studio. Sometimes I suggest familiar shapes, while at other times the images are distilled to become pure abstraction.

Color dynamics and gestural lines express the energy of urban life. Painting in acrylics and drawing in colored pencil, I invite the viewer on a journey of visual discovery.

My recent paintings are based on the composition of a cross with a restful horizontal and a rigid vertical. As each painting progresses, the embellishments tend to distort the initial armature, distort the structure and unsettle the balance for a more lively composition.

“This series of paintings is a document of my vision loss since my last show three years ago.

The paintings begin with a soft focus background, augmented with fragments of collage inspired by shapes that unify my different ways of seeing.

Of course many artists have experienced vision loss but do not lose the urge to create. It is a testimonial to the indomitable spirit of the artist.”
